Program Structure
Your studies will commence in the first year with the necessary foundations of education and knowledge in the teaching profession. You will be introduced to two areas, i.e. Education, its major theories and principles; and Arabic Language. In this year, you will be exposed to the organization of the school, its curriculum, and the content of Arabic Language. This foundation work will continue into the second year with the strengthening of the Arabic Language skills and components, while gradually introducing you to the teaching and learning process that takes place in the classroom. In the third year, you will have the opportunity to experience hands-on in researching, planning, preparing and teaching in a mock classroom. You will also learn to develop, conduct, interpret and report assessment of your students’ performance. In Practicum I (School Orientation Program), you will be placed in the school to experience the management, organization, and culture of the school, and classroom teaching. In the fourth year after completing the remaining courses, you will once again be placed in a school where you will do your teaching practicum supervised by experienced teachers, school administrators and university supervisors. Besides developing teaching skills, the program will also equip you with research knowledge and skills, preparing you for postgraduate studies or for a career as a researcher.
